Kerala’s ancient martial art of Kalaripayattu is an art that I always cherish. I had performed Kalari practice on a similar platform over 26 years ago. In the annual celebration of 4th Ayyappa Madam, I had the opportunity to light torches and perform kalari practice with other notable martial artists from 6th mile to 4th mile.

My Gurunadhan was Gangan Gurukkal. His approach to his disciples was more like a father than a teacher. I was very saddened by his departure. It was because of my respect and admiration for him that I was able to participate in this great gathering in Anjarakandy today and give the gift of love to the children by giving full support to maintain his legacy in Kalari.
